poking intellectual holes in the lid of your simplicity

Hi.

Okay, back from a family visit, was out of town there for a few days. I would have been back sooner but my parents have satellite tv, the kind with weird stations, so I got obsessed watching the Soup Can Channel.

All Soup. All the Time. Watch it.

Seriously, that satellite stuff is addictive, there were hundreds of stations. Up to (but not exceeding) three of them may have been good, but television is hypnotic, I'll watch it for hours even when nothing is on.

Is everyone well?

Ugh, I'm exhausted today, for no reason. Well, I did spend my whole night dreaming that I was wide awake. My body is rested, but my mind is drained. Maybe if I daydream that I'm making coffee, it will all balance out, I don't know.

So, North Korea, with it's weird dictator, has nuclear weapons. Somehow it's Clinton's fault, I just know it. And Bush, for invading a poverty stricken nation completely incapable of attaining nuclear weapons, and for taking the focus off of 1. the terrorists who actually attacked us and 2. places that are actually dangerous, like North Korea....he's a strong leader. Not sure why, really, but hey. He does photo ops at NASCAR events, that enough for me. So, thanks to this strong leadership, Iraq has a new, really nice police force (the United States military) and the rest of the world is more dangerous than ever. Nice. Bush's inability to recognize a genuine threat would be funny if it weren't, you know. Horrifying.

Hoo, it's Saturday. A good day, almost always. Mostly because I don't have to leave the house, but the free time is good too. I really make good use of it, usually by sitting for hours at a time, but for variety I'll mix in a little pacing. And if I'm really feeling wild, I may step outside to check the mail. Special emphasis on the "may".

Let's see, what else? I finished up my reviews and turned them in. The executive editor for the paper had requested three sample reviews before they would make a decision. I turned them in earlier this week, so I should hear something by the middle of next week, possibly later.
This has really been a drawn out job interview process, I'll dance the happy-dance when it's over.

I also contribute to a tiny magazine called Too Much Coffee Man, and I submitted my most recent article to them a few weeks ago. That will appear in a month or so. In the article I review non-fiction books....books that I didn't actually bother to read. I write made-up reviews for Ann Coulter, Jayson Blair, the 9-11 Report, the Holy Bible, etc. Or, to put it differently, I write ficticious reviews for non-fiction, attempting to make the point that "non-fiction" is largely a myth, usually in the service of a thinly-veiled bias. It's supposed to be funny, but I'm guessing that I'll just get lots of hate-mail, so we'll see. I have a knack for holding unpopular opinions, it seems to be my super-power. Anyway, once the magazine is in print, I'll put the article here.

I'm rambling, thanks for putting up with me.

Welcome back! Done a whole lot of re-decorating on my blog while you were gone. Drop by and marvel at the sassy new look. I decided to keep the things you can read as well. :-)

Soup Channel? Please, no. Tell me that's a joke, right?
