The Contemplative George
I was reading this Associated Press article the other day about Bush's options for the next Supreme Court nominee. Here is what White House press secretary Scott McClellan said about the president: “He is doing his homework and thinking very carefully about this decision."
Um...shouldn't this be a given? Because with most presidents, it's just assumed that they're thinking about the current issues. You shouldn't have to actually mention this fact at a press briefing. But apparently, when Bush considers something, people feel it's worth pointing out. It's like the political equivalent of an Elvis sighting. My guess is that Rove saw Bush with a dazed expression on his face and whispered to an aid, "Quick, get Fox News on the phone! The president is thinking!"
To get a sense of how absurd this is, I always try to imagine what a press release about Bush would sound like if it were applied to a different president. It's a little difficult to believe that the White House would've released a statement about Theodore Roosevelt saying, "We have a brief announcement regarding the president's position on the current tensions between the US and Japan: He is thinking about it...really, really hard."
I mean, if you're a conservative, I can understand going along with Bush's ideology. He loves Jesus, you love Jesus, I get that. But it just seems like way too many conservatives turn a blind eye to Bush's intellectual failings. Republicans basically treat Bush the way fat, rich women treat their miniature dogs. "You're a good little president, yes you are. Yes you are a smart little froofy pants." Anyway, given the problems right now with Iraq and the Gulf Coast, I just hope Bush is thinking about a few other issues as well...because that would make him such a good boy.

One of the ironies about George W Bush is that some of the set speeches he's made may be regarded by posterity as among the great presidential speeches, despite that George, himself, having a limited vocabulary, can't express himself properly in his mother tongue and is arguably the most ill-informed and otherwise ignorant person ever to occupy the Oval Office.

They couldn't get Homer Simpson to run on the Republican ticket, so Bush was the next best thing.
Think of what an inspiration he is to deadbeats. Bush symbolizes the ideal that in America even complete losers can have access to power if they have enough money and/or connections.
You don't need brains, you don't need talent, you don't even need even a game plan--all you need is connections and money and you can destroy the world.

Surely the warning bells should have gone off earlier to Republican voters "ahhh excuse me but George can't even articulate his own thoughts into words, your gonna trust this guy with your country"?
It would agree about the connections comments, Its the only explaination for the Bush dynasty. That and lazy politics.

And our bright boy went on to nominate someone who's never been a judge to the highest court in the land! What a guy!
How did he get a second term again? Somebody refresh my memory.

By rigging Ohio and Florida. (And this time I am not being silly.)

Don't forget having currupt guys like Tom Delay redistrict Democrat voters out of the Senate and House electorates.
