I Am Wise

To an optimist the glass is half full.

To a pessimist it's half empty.

To a passive-aggressivist the glass is a little of both. You know, that glass right there...the one you didn't put away last night when you forgot to wash the dishes.

It's funny you should mention this analogy because I was just thinking about this last night from a philosophical standpoint.

I believe whether the glass is half full or half empty depends on what you paid for the beer.

One of my daughters has passive aggressive tendencies, but she doesn't reap the benefits of that behavior because she does not know about how to go about it effectively. For example, if she has a high school teacher she doesn't like, she will do a lousy job in that class because she thinks she's "getting the teacher real good" or something... while she is really just shooting her GPA in the foot. It doesn't make sense to me, anyway... I think she is going about it all wrong!!

I'd rather be passive aggressive by outwardly complying with requests, then procrastinating, leaving tasks undone, obstructing, doing an insular job, doing what was not requested, misplacing things, or "forgetting" to perform the requested tasks, all while feeling put upon, controlled, pressured, and victimized.

Fibbing, omitting information, and lying to avoid direct confrontation are also wholesomely good passive aggressive activities in which I could engage!

And if I wasn't married, I would have fun making dates and standing people up.

I'm also sure I could develop some dandy somatic complaints and headaches, and that the abuse of alcohol and other substances would be possible.

And if people asked me to do something important, I could "forget" to do such tasks, whether for myself or others, while at the same time claiming to "do too much" for others. It would then be fun to watch others' reactions!!

Passive aggressives of the world, unite!!
