The Cheney Shooting: Now 20% Less Funny
So, the old guy had to go and have a heart attack and ruin all the fun. What a selfish bastard. What's still amusing is that Cheney has finally agreed to make a statement...on Fox News. Man our vice president is a fat coward. Everyone knows why he waited one day to let the incident be reported: he shot the guy on Saturday...Sunday morning is when all of the news shows like Meet the Press are on , and obviously he didn't want his mishap to be the main topic of discussion. By delaying everything, only the cable channels really get a chance to cover it in any kind of detail over the next week. So, today, our brave second-in-command will answer a few softballs on a news outlet created and run by some of his closest friends. I'm sure most of the questions will be along lines of, "Mr. Cheney, is the media out of control? How much emotional trauma has this intense media scrutiny caused you?" They'll make Cheney the victim and the masses will collectively giggle. Unless the old guy who was shot dies, of course. Then the whole thing becomes more like 37% less funny.
Although hats off to Snave! As soon as all of this happened he put up a post saying he would not be making fun of the situation, citing the seriousness and danger of hunting accidents. That is some real foresight (and maturity) on his part. I think in the future I'll always read his site before I post anything.

37% less funny means it's still 63% hilarious...which is higher than W's and Cheney's approval ratings combined!! (Go figure.)
That has to count for funny bonus points making the shooting incident at least 80% as funny as before the heart attack.

Could it be that the thirty hour delay in publicising news of the shooting was that Cheney may have been drinking?
And because of the relatively small area of the victim's body where the birdshot hit, there is reason to suppose he'd been standing much closer to Cheney than the officially announced thirty yards, so that his wounds may be more serious than we are led to believe.
Because the creators of the Official Truth can't get their story right about this shooting, can we wonder why they didn't get it right over Saddam's WMDs, and are doubtless not getting it right over Iran's putative WMDs?

Its a good stand by Snaveroo, I missed posting the week before basically because I had a Mohammad pic ready to go, and had a sudden flash of common sense. I'm not going to let this one pass though.

I guess this is where I diverge from my empathetic, liberal friends. This guy was a big contributor to one of the biggest war machines of our country, the Republican Party.
I don't think they spare a moment's thought when innocent people are dying in Iraq to fulfill their evil agenda. Nor would I mourn Hitler being burned to death in his bunker.
I call this more "collateral damage" while attempting to perpetuate the "war on terror."

Or put another way, these campaign donors go hunting with Cheney to peddle their influence over our government. It's about time one got shot!

I have to say, from my distance it is still pretty funny in a morbid kind of way. :-)

Sometimes watching what happens in the US on the media, and what terrible events take place in Iraq, I think I'm watching a series of badly implemented dark comedy-horror movies. I guess that it's true to say everything the US does in relation to basic tenets of belief - the right to bear arms, the right to invade other countries - is and always has been badly implemented. x

Yeah, it's definately still funny. The best part is the republicans running around saying, "oh now liberals care about freedom of speach..."
Because suggesting that one might have been better off to not find solicite and publish inflamatory and pointless cartoons is on the exact same level as covering up the news.
Really.
Wow, I hope the sarcasm comes across here.

WEll, Matt... I'm not sure I can be considered a complete paragon of virtue. I have done a pretty good job so far, although I did post a couple of somewhat derogatory limericks about this whole business at Blognonymous (a nice weblog if you haven't been there yet... there is a link at Various Miseries.)
As someone who has been around guns and hunters lots during my lifetime, I am still having trouble figuring out just how the accident happened. It seems to me like it almost couldn't have happened unless people were drunk. If it turns out there was drinking involved, as in excessive drinking, my niceness about the matter goes out the window.
Anyway, the limericks aren't too awful; they are about four or five posts down on that weblog.
