I'm leaving town for a bit, have a conference to be at for work. Speakers will speak, attendees will attend and Matt will sneak off and bar-hop. Sorry for my lack of posting and responding this week, I've been a bad blogger. More next week. I leave you with a question that occurred to me last night while watching Bush's State of the Union address:
Is President Bush actually a brilliant performance artist? Is his inarticulate jock schtick really an elaborate practical joke? I mean, he's so unbelievably dense that I'm wondering if it's all just a huge put on. Like maybe at the end of his term, he'll rip off his mask and reveal that it was Andy Kaufman the whole time. "Ta-Da!! Now...who wants to wrestle?"
Thoughts?

In George Bush, we have a president so infinitely sagacious, his simple utterances contain nuances and profundity beyond the understanding of us mere mortals.
So it behoves us to give him our unquestioning trust, and accept that, like God, Dubya works in mysterious ways that will ultimately redound to the benefit of us all.
When Dubya finally leaves office, we’ll realize we’ll never see his like again.
So let us enjoy him while we may.

He is smart enough to use all the dirty tricks in the book. And he's smart enough not to change his tactics when they have worked so well for him. And he's defiitely smarter than his supporters (or they wouldn't be so duped by his hypocrisy.)
But whether that makes him smart relative to the people who have taught him the dirty tricks and methods. Well, that is a different question.

He is a brilliant actor, one of the finest of his times. His fine acting has convinced millions of Americans that his agenda is indeed NOT nefarious.
I like to think that when a Democrat is inaugurated in January of 09, police will be waiting by the podium to arrest Bush the moment he is no longer president, just like all the hardcore Repubs were salivating for Clinton to get arrested at Bush's inauguration.
