A Book Review (for that lucrative young, male demographic)
Swann's Way by Marcel Proust
I only made it about two pages into this crap. Proust, put the fucking crack pipe down. I mean, you're sipping some tea, which reminds you of a lunch with your dead aunt, and all the sudden you're strolling through a garden and talking about poetry and curtains, and that's all in one sentence! Where was the plot? Where was the action? I need easy-to-like protagonists if I'm going to stay interested. I need ambiguously sinister bad guys. And codes. Write about codes next time. There is absolutely nothing wrong with borrowing a few ideas from Dan Brown. In fact, take the entire plot of the Davinci Code and rip it off. Call it a "post-modern re-imagining" and then entitle your book 'The Swann Puzzle'. Or 'Remembrance Of Where The Next Art-Related Clue Is'. Just no more of this, "I was a child who smelled a rose which made me think of dearest mumsy in her floppy red hat" bullshit.

Hi Jericho, thanks.
And just between you and me Snave, I actually enjoy Proust AND Wordsworth. But again, this is our secret. We can't lose our American Male street cred.

Didn't you mention that book before? The name sounds extremely familiar.
I'm with Snave. Can't spell Wordsworth without words, and man does he use a lot of them!!!

A book was published in around 2000, purportedly written by George W Bush, about his conversion to Christianity, or some such. I seem to remember seeing it in a bookstore.
My search for the title on Google has been in vain. Doubtless it sold out, and perhaps awaits a second printing.
But does anyone out there know what the title was? For I'm feeling intellectually parched and need stimulation.

Hi Richard! You may be thinking of "The Faith of George W. Bush" by Stephen Mansfield. This was the one I saw around the most. There are, however, several pro-Bush books about his religion. Try Amazon dot com and put "Bush" and "Faith" in the search engine. They all sound hysterical, let me know if you actually get one, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

I mentioned in the two word book reviews. Does your t-shirt company have a set web site now? I was reading your site and saw questions about what to name the enterprise, but I wasn't sure if there was a set place where people could go and order stuff. Anyway, let me know so that I can put up a link to it.

Of course I missed you! It's excessively nice to see you back. They actually did the same thing to me at work, blocked out blog sites. Actually, I can read them but I can't respond or post. Those employers are bastards! We should form an employee rebellion, make blog access mandatory at all jobs.

Hey Matt, that's kind of you to offer to make a link!!!!! I don't have a pretty front end URL to my store yet, but I got one at Cafepress as soon as I opened a store. That url is:
http://www.cafepress.com/political_tees
Damien did the artwork for me on this first one and is working on a second that is less political.
But now that you mention it, I really should make a link in my own sidebar. Today I am making business cards. We made our own design and are printing them up as 4X6 prints at Costco. They look good and it's cheap that way. :-)
